The Problem went away. I installed SP2 and still no problem. I installed all the Windows XP security updates after that and the problem CAME BACK. I ran into this problem where we added a mapped drive for indexing on a Vista SP2 machine and started having issues where Word 2007 could save to *.doc but not docx format.
